I was ... I am so thankful that I have an education! I was self-employed as a model for sometime, and I now work in the medical field. My current employer (thankfully!) didn't ask about my gap in employment on my resume. It's something to think about NOW, instead of just saying, 'I will deal with that when the time comes.' Nobody wants to employ a washed-up 30yo woman with no work experience outside of modeling - try to explain to people that it's a hard industry and that you actually worked in accounts, marketing, pr, customer service and the most fickle industry in the world for 10 years. It won't get you the job."<br /><br />I like that you said this. I was a self employed model for a few years and now I work in counselling and therapy. Though I trained part time whilst I was modelling, it was hard explaining to people that I wasn't some idiot who hung around cameras all day with her mouth agape. As you said, I had some finely tuned skills which I could gain in no other job as there is no other job like it. Qualities like time management, sales (nothing harder to sell than yourself), motivation, ambition, dedication, not scared of long hours or no sleep or hard labour for potentially no money, 100% behind everything I put my name to... <br /><br />Models don't just need to make sure they have a career plan after modelling; they need to understand their self worth, their skills and their potential.Girl, anon.noreply@blogger.com
